This February, Grain Ecosystem and GECA announced our strategic partnership making significant progress in establishing a comprehensive support system for investors and project developers by strengthening 3 key pillars : expert advice and support, the acceleration of projects, and increased confidence in projects.
GECA is growing ! Sofie Dejaegher (MSc in sustainable development, BSc in bioengineering), our new agriculture and environment project analyst has several years of experience in agri-food and biochar project development.
GECA actively participated in the “Bio360 Expo” conference which took place on January 24 and 25, 2024, in Nantes, France. Melissa Leung, our Carbon Director, spoke on reducing risks in biochar carbon sequestration investments. Our team was also an exhibitor where we interacted with many industry players.
GECA actively participated in the North American Biochar Conference which was held from February 12 to 15, 2024, in Sacramento, California, United States. GECA gave two presentations. The first, by our CEO, Suzanne Allaire, on the economics of biochar production; and the second, by ou Carbon Director, Melissa Leung,
VERGE, the major climate tech event, which took place October 24-26, 2023 in San Jose, CA, USA, allowed GECA to strengthen its links in the carbon credit and climate change industry. All the main players in CDR were present, including GECA.
Pyrovac welcomed several GECA members to its factory near Quebec City, in Canada, in September 2023. Pyrovac has produced pyrolysis plants for the transformation of used plastics into renewable energy, walnut shells into wood vinegar and biochar, and for biocal production.
GECA co-hosted a symposium with Puro, our partner, at Climate Week in New York city from September 17 to 24, 2023. Melissa Leung, our carbon director, also provided an excellent performance during her conference on CDR using biochar.
Last September, Airex Energy, a manufacturer of a torrefaction process, allowed GECA to tour its ultra-modern facilities and discover its commitment to a circular economy. Airex Energy’s mission is to make the world a cleaner and greener place for future generations, a mission that we also share.
Several members of the GECA’s team visited the Soleco Energy Inc. plant at Thetford Mines in September 2023. Soleco Energy Inc. aims to transform low-value plastic wastes into green fuel to replace products made from virgin fossil fuel.
